ARCHDIOCESE LENTEN APPEAL If you have not responded to the Lenten Appeal please join your fellow parishoners in our efforts to serve those in need. The amount of our contribution is not important but our paritcipation is! Additional forms are in the pews. Please return in any collection.
OFFICE OF THE ARCHBISHOP On April 8, 1808, the Diocese of Baltimore was elevated to an Archdiocese and the dioceses of Bardstown (louisville), Boston, New York, and Philadelphia were established. This anniversary, which will be celebrated in a special way be Pope Benedict XVI during his visit to the United States, will also be marked with a series of events here in our Archdiocese. The following events have been planned to help our Catholic people commemorate this historic anniversary:
April 22, 2008 at 7 PM - Lecture, "Right for the Start - John Carroll, our first bishop, Archbishop Timothy Dolan.
May 12, 2008 at 7 PM - Lecture, "Popes, Power and World Politics: From Leo XIII to Benedict XVI, Mr. George Weigel.
June 1, 2008 at 7 PM - Concert "An Evening of Antonio Vivaldi" at the Basilica
June 9, 2008 at 7 PM - Lecture, "The Faithbul:Why Young Adults Are Embracing Christian Orthodoxy", Ms. Colleen Carroll Campbell
April 2009 - Archdiocesan Pilgrimage to the Basilica of the National Shrin of the Immaculate Conception
ASK THE GOVERNOR TO VETO THAT UNDERMINE MARRIAGE

Please contact Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley immediately and ask him to veto two bills that undermine the institution of marriage by granting marriage equivalency status to unmarried couples in parts of the laws of Maryland. Senate Bills 566 and 597 establish domestic partnerships between same-sex and unmarried couples. They will become lawif the Governor signs them. He could do so as early as May 13th. You can urge him to veto the bills by sending an e-mail, or phoning his office. To contact the governor by e-mail go the www.marcathcon.org. His office's phone numbers are 410-0743901 and 1-800-8336 (toll free). Ask him to support marriages that involve only one man and one woman, and to veto both Senate Bills.
