Beyond The Boundaries

Most homes are built for the higher end of the market while more homes are needed for the lower and middle price ranges. Home developments are usually segregated by prices with exclusive zoning regulations reinforcing social isolation. Clearly, housing policies based on market forces aren't working in the best interest of all people. Considering housing affordability and the current political climate, the timing is right to foster a clearer understanding of fair housing policies (such as inclusionary zoning policies), along with our role-based on the principles of our faith-to advocate for equitable housing policies.

Bishop Rozanski, Director for Beyond the Boundaries, asked the Vicars Forane to nominated a leader for their region to establish a Housing Advocacy Network. These Region Leaders will develop a network of advocates, with a leader in each parish, to raise awareness and promote policies and legislation to provide affordable homes. The Housing Advocacy Network seeks to achieve affordable home choices (both rental and purchase) blended with market rate homes to ensure equitable education, employment, social networks and economic opportunities in the best interest of all.

We invite your participation. As advocates for justice, you are the key to raising awareness in your parish and community, sharing an understanding of how inequitable situations deeply affect the vitality of our area along with our role as Catholics to advocate for fair policies. Would you help raise awareness in your parish? In's not an overwhelming task but offers a way to make progress for this important issue. Would you help us make a difference in your area?

Contact 443/623-1355 and we'll connect you with the network leader in your area.
